Details: The Errly Aquatics Shrimp Competition, organized by Dallas Davis of Errly Aquatics, is designed to showcase top-quality shrimp in a fair, competitive setting during the Sustainable Reef show Aquaporium. With the support of Sustainable Reef, this competition brings together hobbyists to highlight excellence in shrimp keeping. Entries will be judged on overall quality, including color, pattern, structure, and health.

Judging will be conducted by respected leaders in the hobby: Rob Bloomfield of Shrimp Envy and Grant Eder of Garden Of Eder, ensuring experienced and unbiased evaluation.

All shrimp will be handled and maintained under stable conditions to ensure consistency throughout the judging process.

Entry Requirements

  • Open to Neocaridina shrimp only.
  • All shrimp in a single entry must be uniform in color, type, size, and appearance.
  • Each entry must include 5 shrimp.
  • Shrimp must be adult, minimum size ½ inch. (Larger shrimp are preferred.)
  • Entries with sick, deformed, or missing-limb shrimp will not be accepted.

Important: Bring shrimp in a clean, secure container. Tanks, water, and lighting will be provided.

Tank & Display Rules

  • All shrimp will be displayed in tanks and water provided by organizers.
  • Participants may bring up to 1 gallon of their own water if preferred.
  • No decorations, plants, or equipment from participants are allowed.
  • Containers should be clearly labeled with your name and entry number.
  • Do not add food or additives during transport.

Entry Limits & Fees

  • The shrimp competition is free within Aquaporium.
  • Entry into Aquaporium is free with shrimp competition participation.
  • Maximum of 1 entry per person, family, group, or business.

Schedule

  • Check-in: 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
  • Judging: 12:00 PM – 3:00 PM
  • Awards: 3:30 PM
  • Pick-up: By 5:00 PM

Total Points: 100

Color Quality — 40

Pattern & Consistency — 20

Body Form & Structure — 25

Health & Vitality — 10

Group Uniformity — 5

Disqualifications

  • Mixed shrimp types or colors.
  • Late submissions.
  • Visible disease or parasites.

Other Notices

  • All shrimp will be returned after the awards ceremony. Please pick up entries before 5:00 PM.
  • By entering, participants agree that their shrimp may be photographed or recorded for promotional use.
  • Event water parameters will be maintained at approximately 8 GH and 3 KH. By entering, participants acknowledge and accept these conditions.
  • All decisions regarding eligibility, scoring, and disqualification are final.
  • Organizers are not responsible for any loss, injury, or death of shrimp during the event.
