💧 Acclimation Recommendation
Crayfish can be sensitive to sudden changes in water chemistry and temperature, so taking the time to acclimate them properly will help reduce stress after shipping.
1. Slowly Rehydrate
Remove the crayfish container from their shipping box and lightly mist them with room-temperature, dechlorinated aquarium water. Alternatively, place them in a clean, shallow container lined with a damp paper towel and allow them to rest for 15–20 minutes so they can gradually adjust to the room's temperature.
2. Gradually Add Water
Over the next 30–45 minutes, slowly add small amounts of water from your aquarium until the crayfish are completely submerged and the water temperature closely matches that of your tank.
3. Move to the Aquarium
Once acclimation is complete, gently lift the crayfish out with a net or by hand and place them into their new aquarium. Do not pour the acclimation water into your tank, as it may contain waste produced during shipping.
4. Let Them Settle In
Leave the aquarium lights off for at least 4–12 hours after introducing your crayfish. It is normal for them to seek shelter immediately while they recover from the stress of transport, so be sure plenty of hiding places are available.
